Prompt response - M/M - PG
A response to the prompt How long? on the slashthedrabble community on livejournal. A short 300 word ficlet based off Queer as Folk and this season. I don't own these characters. I'm just playing with them.
Justin’s hand worked fast as it drew across what had been a blank page just moments before. His mind raced as fast as his hand worked. How long had he waited for this? For the moment Brian said he loved him. He honestly never thought it would happen, but it had. There they had stood just outside the burned building that housed Babylon until the bomb had gone off.
The bombing had changed everything. It had changed him, Brian, every single one of their friends. Michael had been hurt. Melanie and Lindsay had lost a close friend, and they were talking about moving to Canada. The change within Brian was so drastic though. Marriage? Getting married? Brian Kinney didn’t do marriage. He liked to fuck whatever gay man that moved. That fact had been clear since they met five years ago.
Now Brian had gone off and bought a house in the middle of nowhere, and he wanted to settle down. He even had started talking about Gus and them raising him. Of course he said yes the second time Brian asked him to marry him. He’d have been stupid not to. All this, he had wanted so long, but he knew there was a good chance that none of it would happen.
Did he like this new Brian? This new man a result of the bombing, even if he himself hadn’t been there when it happened? He wasn’t sure. He loved the man he’d been with over the last five years. This new man would take some getting used to. Hey, at least the sex was great. Justin lifted his hand from the page, his eyes gazing down on a scene of him and Brian making love in front of the fireplace of their new home. That never changed.
